You know, I played at trying to figure out how you got there too, but I only got as far as incorruptibility before getting side tracked toward another interest of mine, Zen Buddhism. I figured that must be the beginning of the path though.
I started form your link to The Miracle of the Sun and, in a few hops, ended up reading about Spring Heeled Jack. He sounds oddly like a precursor to Batman. Wikipedia is the most phenomenal place for stream of consciousness browsing....
I had heard of Spring Heeled Jack through (I think) two completely unrelated sources: the Stephen King short story of that title, which is about a serial killer of women; and a Star Trek: TOS episode called "Wolf in the Fold" about a non-corporeal entity that liked to possess people and make them kill women, which claimed to be both Jack the Ripper and Spring Heeled Jack.
I agree. It reminds me of the library from Asimov's Foundation series, though the actual description may have been from a collection of tribute stories by other authors.
S'funny; I know the episode you are referring to, and I knew that 'Redjac' claimed to be Jack the Ripper, but I didn't remember anything about Spring Heeled Jack; probably because I had no idea who that was at the time. Interesting.
Gotta admit; I've never read any of foundation, though I know that posicat is a fan of that body of work.
