As part of my most recent attempt to integrate fresh foods into my diet - and eat a morning meal - I ate a mango for breakfast today.

I've had mango before, but always IN something and prepared by someone else (fresh mango salsa from Whole Foods! mmmm). This was all me, peel to pit.

I peeled it with a knife, which left some bits of green. They had a strong spicy flavor to them, redolent of something I can't quite think of. My tongue still stings of it a little.

The flesh near the funky flat pit was less sweet than the middle, and so what's left is a flat pulpy lumpiness. I'm not sure if it's compostable, but I'll be bringing the peel home at least.
